European white oak is one of the most popular species used in hardwood flooring during the last decade. It is one of the most durable hardwoods, so it terms of performance, it can take on daily traffic without showing much of wear and tear. Due to its appearance, European white oak fits nicely into the minimalistic design themes. In addition, its tight-knit graining makes it an ideal wood species for hand scraping, wire brushing and distressing. Separately, due to its molecular structure, European white oak receives stains very well. It is one of the only species with which light neutral shades can be achieved. Other wood flooring species such as red oak, maple, hickory and walnut do not receive the stain as well as European white oaks.
